Sharing Knowledge to Strengthen ASEAN
The GS-Foundation is actively contributing to the GIZ-led initiative “Assisting ASEAN in Countering Arms Smuggling.” By organizing workshops and providing expert articles, we support the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in strengthening regional cooperation to combat cross-border arms trafficking.
Our efforts focus on knowledge sharing, capacity building, and fostering effective collaboration among ASEAN member states to address the challenges posed by arms smuggling.

Why it Matters
Arms smuggling remains a significant threat to the peace and security of ASEAN member states, jeopardizing socio-economic and political development. The GS-Foundation, in collaboration with GIZ, supports ASEAN’s efforts to combat this issue by organizing workshops and providing expert articles, thereby strengthening regional cooperation and contributing to the overall stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
Our Activities
- Spezialized Workshops: Specialized workshops on, for example, regional cooperation against arms smuggling, international policing practices or police cooperation in transnational crime
- Specialized articles and capacity-building materials on, for example, regional information-sharing, marking, tracing, and verification of arms.
