GS-Foundation expands its advisory capacity with Michael Schemke

Michael Schemke

On 1 July 2025, the GS-Foundation welcomed new consultant Michael Schemke to its team. With over four decades of experience in the North Rhine-Westphalia police force, including many years in a senior position, he will now contribute his extensive expertise to the work of the foundation.

Leadership strength with Vision

Michael Schemke began his police career in 1977 as a patrol officer in the middle ranks.
After holding positions in the middle and senior ranks, he was promoted to the higher police service in 1997. Among other things, he was head of the permanent staff for planning high-profile operations in Essen and deputy police president of the Krefeld police headquarters. He worked in special forces for more than eleven years.

Since 2016 he has worked in the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of the Interior, initially as an operations officer with a focus on clan crime, then, from 2019, as police inspector, the highest-ranking uniformed position in the state.

Role at the GS-Foundation

As an advisor, Schemke will support the GS Foundation in the further development of international reform partnerships. He will focus in particular on the growing network within Germany.

‘I am looking forward to working with the GS Foundation because I can contribute my experience at the interface between operational reality and strategy in an international reform context and to a strong team.’ – Michael Schemke
