The Leadership Course 2026 concluded successfully with a formal closing ceremony at the National Institute for Police Studies (NIPS) in Abuja. During the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Department of Training and Development (CP DTD) presented certificates to 35 officers of the Nigeria Police Force, including 15 female participants, who successfully completed the intensive two-week training programme.

The second Leadership Seminar for operational leaders of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) has successfully concluded in Abuja, Nigeria. From 13 to 24 July 2026, a total of 30 operational leaders of the SIS participated in the intensive two-week training programme, which ended with the official presentation of certificates by the Commander SIS.

From 29 June to 10 July 2026, the GS-Foundation successfully delivered the Women’s Leadership Certificate Course in Abuja, Nigeria. Implemented on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the German Government, the programme brought together 20 senior female officers of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen their leadership competencies and promote professional exchange.

The GS-Foundation has donated a fully equipped Gender Desk Laboratory to the Bauchi State Police Command as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening security institutions and improving the response to gender-based violence (GBV) in Nigeria.

More than 50 trainers for so-called Gender Desk Officers, trained by the GS-Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), came together in Abuja in mid-June for a joint workshop. The aim of the event was to share experiences, further develop the quality of the training and strengthen the network of trainers in the long term.

On 9 June 2026, the GS-Foundation officially handed over a newly renovated and equipped Gender Laboratory (Gender Lab) to the Plateau State Police Command in Jos, Nigeria. The facility, located within the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) block at the Command Headquarters, was established under the Supporting Police Accountability and Transformation (SPAAT) Project.

A two-day workshop on crime statistics took place in Abuja from 19 to 20 May 2026. Despite the tragic events that had taken place just a few days earlier, in which 17 police officers were killed in an ambush, high-ranking representatives of the Nigerian police took an active part in the event. Among the participants were nine Commissioners of Police and 13 Deputy Commissioners of Police.

The Rivers State Police Command, in collaboration with the GS-Foundation, has officially opened the new state-of-the-art “Gender Lab” at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. It marks an important milestone in the fight against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Nigeria.

On 27 January 2026, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) formally validated and endorsed the revised Gender-Responsive Policing and Community Engagement (GRPCE) Training Manual and Workbook during a one-day national validation workshop in Abuja.

As part of the Pilot Community Engagement Project in Garki, implemented with UNDP and funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, the GS-Foundation handed over equipment to the FCT Command in Abuja.
