Successful Completion of the Leadership Course 2026 Strengthens Leadership Capacities within the Nigeria Police Force

The Leadership Course 2026 concluded successfully with a formal closing ceremony at the National Institute for Police Studies (NIPS) in Abuja. During the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Department of Training and Development (CP DTD) presented certificates to 35 officers of the Nigeria Police Force, including 15 female participants, who successfully completed the intensive two-week training programme.

GS-Foundation Successfully Concludes Women’s Leadership Certificate Course in Nigeria

From 29 June to 10 July 2026, the GS-Foundation successfully delivered the Women’s Leadership Certificate Course in Abuja, Nigeria. Implemented on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the German Government, the programme brought together 20 senior female officers of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen their leadership competencies and promote professional exchange.

GS-Foundation Hands Over Gender Lab to Plateau State Police Command

On 9 June 2026, the GS-Foundation officially handed over a newly renovated and equipped Gender Laboratory (Gender Lab) to the Plateau State Police Command in Jos, Nigeria. The facility, located within the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) block at the Command Headquarters, was established under the Supporting Police Accountability and Transformation (SPAAT) Project.

Workshop on crime statistics in Abuja: Impulses for strategic policing in Nigeria

A two-day workshop on crime statistics took place in Abuja from 19 to 20 May 2026. Despite the tragic events that had taken place just a few days earlier, in which 17 police officers were killed in an ambush, high-ranking representatives of the Nigerian police took an active part in the event. Among the participants were nine Commissioners of Police and 13 Deputy Commissioners of Police.

Rivers State Police Command and GS-Foundation open state-of-the-art “Gender Lab” to combat gender-based violence

The Rivers State Police Command, in collaboration with the GS-Foundation, has officially opened the new state-of-the-art “Gender Lab” at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. It marks an important milestone in the fight against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Nigeria.
