At the beginning of September, our colleagues Ronja Berner and Udo Möller travelled to Chile as part of the trilateral police reform project with Chile and Colombia. The project is financed by the German Federal Foreign Office. Together with our partners, they met representatives of Carabineros de Chile and discussed achievements as well as future priorities.
At the end of August, the newly established Police Reform Secretariat (PRS) in Nigeria, under the leadership of Prof. Olu Ogunsakin, invited the GS-Foundation to present its ongoing projects at a national press conference in Abuja. The PRS was created to give new direction and visibility to Nigeria’s police reform agenda and to strengthen cooperation with national and international partners.
In late August, the GS-Foundation organised a five-day Gender Desk Training in Abuja for officers of the Nigerian Police Force. The training was designed to strengthen knowledge, awareness and practical tools for dealing with Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in everyday police work.
The GS-Foundation is once again featured on NTA News: the 6th Train-the-Trainer course for Gender Desk Officers of the Nigerian Police Force is taking place in Abuja from 25–29 August 2025.
On 27 August 1991 the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova declared independence from the Soviet Union. This day marked a historic step towards freedom, democracy and sovereignty. Since then, Independence Day has been celebrated every year as a symbol of dignity, self determination and Moldova’s European path.
