In the week from 18 to 24 September, our advisor and the responsible project manager travelled to Nigeria to visit the team on site and to attend various cooperation meetings.
Together with @undpnigeria and @policereformoffice, the GS Foundation was able to hand over modern barracks with a capacity of 2,000 beds to the Nigerian Police Force on 15 September under the commitment of Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
In February 2023, a new president was elected in Nigeria. The election was won by the challenger Bola Tinubu, who had previously been governor of Lagos State.
A delegation of the Federal Foreign Office led by team leader Tobias Grothe visited our project team in Abuja and got informed about the progress of the project so far in the implementation of the national police reform.
On April 4th, our Head of Project, former Federal Police Commissioner Matthias Seeger , together with the Inspector General Police of Nigeria and our partner UNDP, presented a package of strategic communication material to the public.
Within our Nigeria project, the train-the-trainer component is a central pillar in the implementation of the National Police Reform.
Gerd Baltes is our most experienced expert in the field. Together with other experts and the Head of the project Matthias Seeger, he is on the road for the GS Foundation in Nigeria.
