Official handover to the Ministry of Internal Affairs
One week ago, the Facilitators Guide Training on Gender-responsive Policing was formally delivered to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova. The guide was received by Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin and is intended to support Moldova’s continued commitment to gender equality in the security sector.
A result of the EQUALFORCE project
The guide is one of the key outputs of the EQUALFORCE project, led by the GS-Foundation in partnership with Gender Associations and commissioned by the German Federal Foreign Office. The project supports security institutions in Moldova and Ukraine in strengthening their capacity to prevent and respond to gender-based violence, promote inclusive leadership, and embed principles of equality and non-discrimination in their organisational structures.
Building on previous work in Moldova
In Moldova, the guide builds on earlier activities jointly implemented by the GS-Foundation and Gender Associations, including a train-the-trainer programme on gender-responsive policing. Developed in collaboration with trainers from the General Police Inspectorate (GPI) and national stakeholders, the guide is designed as a modular, scenario-based training tool for use in police education and institutional development.
It provides police instructors and leadership with practical resources to address gender-related challenges in both internal culture and external operations, contributing to safer, more inclusive policing practices.
We thank Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin and her team for their continued engagement, and we gratefully acknowledge the collaboration with our partners at Gender Associations and the support of the German Federal Foreign Office in making this initiative possible.
