Trust and Transparency: Two Milestones in the Garki Pilot Project

The Garki Pilot Project continues to strengthen trust and transparency between citizens and the police. Two recent milestones mark important progress.

Under the Community Engagement component, two specially equipped containers were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). These new spaces serve as open meeting points between the police and the public. They are designed for dialogue, listening and cooperation, places where residents can share feedback, seek advice or raise concerns directly with officers. The goal is clear: to make the police visible, approachable and responsive within the community. A monitoring system will help assess how citizens use these spaces and how engagement evolves over time.

Another step followed with the presentation of a detailed overview map of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to the new Commissioner of Police, CP Dantawaye Miller. The map supports daily operations, planning and coordination. These crucial tools are often missing from police budgets. With better orientation comes efficiency, and with efficiency comes trust.

Both initiatives illustrate one principle: safety grows from connection and clarity. By creating spaces for dialogue and tools for better coordination, the Garki Pilot Project strengthens the foundations of community policing in Nigeria.
