A Hub for Equality, Safety and the Future

The photo shows three female officers and one male officer of the Ukrainian National Police together with two international guests. They are standing in a row in front of a wall with an illuminated map of Ukraine. Everyone is smiling at the camera, creating a professional yet friendly atmosphere.

On 13 August 2025, the GS-Foundation visited the Hub of the Ukrainian Association of Women in Law Enforcement (UAWLE) in Kyiv.

The Hub was established to promote gender equality within Ukrainian security institutions. It has also developed into an innovative space for implementing community policing – a citizen-oriented approach to policing. With support from Canada and the United States, the Hub has been designed as a family-friendly environment and serves as a venue for trainings and workshops. Topics include the prevention of domestic violence as well as self-defence courses.

The visit to the UAWLE Hub aligns closely with the GS-Foundation’s work within EQUALFORCE, a project dedicated to advancing gender equality in the security institutions of Ukraine and Moldova. By strengthening female leadership, addressing gender-based violence, and fostering sustainable structures, EQUALFORCE builds lasting change. The Hub in Kyiv demonstrates how equality, safety, and trust can come together in practice.
