From 17 to 21 August 2026, police leaders from Colombia and Chile are taking part in a joint leadership training programme in Germany. The training is being held at IBZ Schloss Gimborn as part of the Trilateral Police Project with Colombia and Chile.
The programme brings together a delegation from the Policía Nacional de Colombia and a delegation from the Carabineros de Chile. With a total of 17 participants – eight to nine from each police organisation – the training creates an opportunity for close professional exchange between the two partner countries.
Leadership in focus
The programme is specifically designed for police officers in middle-management positions. At this level, leaders play an important role in translating strategic objectives into day-to-day police work while at the same time managing teams, taking responsibility for operational decisions and responding to changing demands.
The training therefore focuses on preparing participants for their leadership roles and exploring the challenges and responsibilities associated with them. Through joint training sessions, participants have the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences, discuss different approaches and learn from the perspectives of colleagues from both countries.
Learning beyond the training room
The programme at IBZ Schloss Gimborn is complemented by visits to German police institutions. Among these is a visit to Cologne Police Headquarters, giving participants the opportunity to gain insights into police structures and practices in Germany and to engage directly with German police colleagues.
Combining training sessions with practical insights and professional exchange allows participants to consider leadership from different perspectives and relate the discussions to their own working environments.
International exchange as part of professional development
Bringing together police leaders from Colombia and Chile also provides a valuable setting for building professional relationships across institutional and national boundaries. Despite different organisational contexts, participants face many comparable questions in their roles as police leaders.
Through the Trilateral Police Project, the GS-Foundation supports this exchange and creates opportunities for police professionals to learn with and from one another. The week at Schloss Gimborn is another step in this ongoing cooperation between Colombia, Chile and Germany.
