In the course of 2022, the GS Foundation in partnership with UNDP, has continued to successfully advise the Nigerian Ministry of Interior on the implementation of the Nigerian Government’s police reform as embedded in the Presidential Strategy “A New Vision for Policing in Nigeria – Framework for the Presidential Police Reform Roadmap”.

Our Team Leader in Nigeria, Matthias Seeger, jointly with his counterparts ensured among others the completion of a new 6-month training curriculum for police recruits in line with international human rights standards. Our team also ensured the completion of hands-on training programmes for the Nigerian police force to enhance their fundamental capacities in effectively discharging their daily duties. The training acknowledges the importance of police serving society in compliance with international human rights standards and included the train-the-trainer concept. In total 360 Nigerian Police Officer are now in the position to pass on their knowledge to their colleagues.
