On 27 August 1991 the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova declared independence from the Soviet Union. This day marked a historic step towards freedom, democracy and sovereignty. Since then, Independence Day has been celebrated every year as a symbol of dignity, self determination and Moldova’s European path.
At the GS-Foundation, we are proud to contribute to this journey by supporting initiatives that strengthen both society and security. Respect for human dignity is at the heart of our work. Together with the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the National Police, we promote community-oriented policing and crime prevention. Through our projects, we empower women in security services and foster equality, diversity, and leadership.
To further strengthen security, we support modern infrastructure and innovative solutions, including border surveillance, explosive ordnance disposal, and the creation of a national Drone Competence Centre for all subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
These initiatives represent tangible progress toward a safer, fairer, and more European Moldova. On Independence Day we not only look back at 1991 but also at the progress achieved in recent years. Most importantly, we look ahead to a future in which freedom, democracy and human dignity form the foundation of Moldova’s security and development.
On this Independence Day, the GS-Foundation thanks all our law enforcement partners and civil society for their trust and collaboration. We also extend our best wishes to all employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and their families for health, strength, and continued success.
The GS-Foundation stands with Moldova today and tomorrow.
