The GS-Foundation is currently implementing a training programme for police officers from the Educational Security Service, Patrol Police and Hromada Police serving in schools across the Kirovohrad Oblast, Ukraine. The course is delivered in close cooperation with the EU Advisory Mission (EUAM) Field Office Odesa and local authorities, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening school security and community resilience.
Addressing today’s security challenges
Schools are increasingly confronted with a wide range of security-related challenges that require well-trained and confident police officers. The training programme therefore combines theoretical knowledge with practical approaches to help participants respond effectively to complex situations in their daily work.
Over the course of the programme, the participants address key topics including conflict management, effective communication and de-escalation strategies, the prevention and counteraction of domestic and gender-based violence (DV/GBV), bullying prevention, cyber threats and online recruitment prevention, as well as gatekeeping. Interactive discussions, practical exercises and the exchange of experiences encourage participants to develop sustainable solutions for their work in and around schools.
Creating a sustainable multiplier effect
A central objective of the training is to build long-term capacity within the Ukrainian police. Upon completion of the course, the participants will serve as trainers within their respective organisations, sharing their newly acquired knowledge and skills with colleagues throughout the region.
This multiplier approach contributes not only to strengthening school security but also to improving cooperation between law enforcement agencies, schools and local communities. By promoting professional communication, prevention and partnership-based policing, the programme supports safer learning environments and stronger trust between citizens and security institutions.
Strong partnership for sustainable impact
The GS-Foundation highly values the close cooperation with the EU Advisory Mission (EUAM) Field Office Odesa and the local authorities, whose continued commitment makes this joint initiative possible.
Special thanks go to Olha Radkevych and Georgios Pokas for their excellent cooperation, professional support and dedication throughout the implementation of the programme.
