European Police Congress 2026: Exchange and international networking

Last week, the 29th European Police Congress 2026 took place in Berlin from 6–7 May 2026. Together with a delegation from the Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), the GS-Foundation attended the congress as well as numerous specialist forums and discussions. The event offered a wide range of opportunities to learn about current developments in policing at European level and to exchange views on new technological solutions and systems in the security sector.

What is the European Police Congress (EPC)?

The European Police Congress (EPC) is one of the most important European specialist events in the field of internal security and policing. Held annually in Berlin, it brings together representatives from the police, security agencies, politics, administration, academia and the security industry to discuss current security policy challenges and developments.

The focus is on topics such as international cooperation, cybercrime, critical infrastructure protection, counter-terrorism, the digitalisation of police work and innovative technical solutions for security agencies. In addition to high-level presentations and specialist forums, the congress offers a central platform for exchange between European and international stakeholders.

Furthermore, the accompanying trade exhibition provides insights into new technologies, systems and solutions in the security sector. The EPC thus promotes international dialogue, networking between authorities and institutions, and the joint further development of modern security structures in Europe.

Strengthening international networking

In addition to the specialist presentations and discussions, the GS-Foundation and the SBI focused in particular on international networking. Direct exchanges with representatives of German, Ukrainian and European authorities facilitated valuable discussions on shared challenges, opportunities for cooperation and future approaches to support.

For the third time, the GS-Foundation accompanied and supported Ukrainian delegations as part of the EPC. The aim of this collaboration is to further strengthen international exchange, build sustainable networks and promote cooperation between Ukrainian, German and European security authorities.

Particularly in times of growing security challenges, international dialogue remains a key component of successful cooperation and mutual support. Once again, the EPC provided an important platform for professional exchange and networking between international security authorities, institutions and organisations.
