International Exchange: Colombian Delegation Visits the Berlin Police

In late April and early May, the Berlin Police welcomed a delegation from Colombia. Three representatives from the Policía Nacional travelled to the German capital to engage in an in-depth examination of operational communications during an expert visit lasting several days. The visit was facilitated by the GS-Foundation, which is thankful for this valuable international exchange.

Insights into major events

The programme focused on practical insights into the Berlin Police’s communication and operational strategies. Particularly fascinating for the Colombian guests were the insights into operational support around 1 May in Berlin – a date traditionally associated with extensive police operations. Furthermore, the delegation members had the opportunity to experience police operational communication at close quarters during the Bundesliga match between 1. FC Union Berlin and 1. FC Köln.

Focus on communication

To provide professional support for the visit, the Berlin Police prepared various talks and presentations. In addition to a general introduction, the focus was particularly set on topics such as communication strategy, public relations and modern operational support. It became clear how important transparent, professional and rapid communication is in complex operational situations.

Another key focus of the delegation’s visit was the direct exchange with the press spokesperson and the communications team of the Berlin Police. Through conversations and discussions, experiences, challenges and best practices from both countries were shared. The international dialogue thus not only provided professional insights but also strengthened cooperation and mutual understanding between the participating institutions.

The GS-Foundation would like to express its sincere thanks to the Berlin Police for their open cooperation, the fascinating insights and the informative exchange. The delegation from Colombia is also thanked for their keen interest and the valuable international dialogue. Such encounters make an important contribution to international networking and the further development of modern policing.
