On 21 and 22 July 2026, Equalforce II supported a two-day interinstitutional roundtable in Chișinău dedicated to strengthening protection mechanisms for victims of domestic violence. The event focused on the implementation of protection orders and the potential use of electronic monitoring as an additional tool to enhance victim safety.
The workshop was opened by Dr. Susanne Greiter, Project Lead of Equalforce II, who highlighted the project’s commitment to promoting sustainable institutional cooperation and effective protection mechanisms for victims of domestic violence in the Republic of Moldova.
Bringing Institutions Together
The roundtable brought together representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the police, social services, probation, the legal sector, Civil Society, the Women’s Law Centre, EUPM, UN Women and other relevant stakeholders. By creating a platform for dialogue between all actors involved, the workshop encouraged the exchange of experiences, the discussion of practical challenges and the development of coordinated approaches to protecting victims of domestic violence.
The active participation of experts from different professional backgrounds underlined that effective victim protection can only be achieved through close interinstitutional cooperation.
Continuing the Dialogue
One of the key outcomes of the workshop was the participants’ strong commitment to continue discussions on legal amendments, institutional responsibilities and the practical implementation of protection measures. Strengthening this ongoing dialogue will contribute to more effective cooperation between institutions and improve the long-term protection of victims.
During the event, Viorica Țîmbalari, Director of ANPCV, also presented the concept and planned implementation of the VioData information system, which aims to further enhance information sharing and coordination among the responsible institutions.
