GS-Foundation and Moldovan Ministry of Internal Affairs strengthen cooperation in the field of drone operations

On 11 May 2026, the GS-Foundation (GS-F) took part in a joint working group on drone operations, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova (MIA). Various sub-units of the Ministry took part in the event, including police services as well as operational and emergency services.

The session was opened by the newly appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Valentin Cioclea. The meeting was chaired by Lilia Cojocaru from the Operational Management Inspectorate of the MIA.

Presentation of the “Centre of Excellence for Drone Operations” project

As part of the working group, GS-F expert Sebastian Rohde presented a key component of the “Centre of Excellence for Drone Operations” project. The project aims to further develop expertise and cooperation in the field of drone operations and to strengthen existing operational structures in the long term.

The presentation formed the basis for an in-depth exchange between the participating sub-units on current challenges, future requirements and opportunities for closer cooperation in the field of drone use.

Scenario-based workshop planned for autumn

As part of the cooperation between GS-F and the Moldovan Ministry of the Interior, a scenario-based workshop on drone operations is planned for the autumn. The aim of the workshop will be to further improve the coordination of drone operations between the various sub-units of the Ministry, whilst simultaneously identifying operational, tactical and potential political and regulatory requirements.

The focus will be on specific operational scenarios, which will be used to analyse existing procedures and discuss opportunities for cooperation. The participating sub-units have been invited to contribute their own scenarios and use cases to facilitate practical discussions and joint solutions.

Focus on cooperation and knowledge exchange

With this planned initiative, GS-F and the Moldovan Ministry of the Interior aim to further strengthen intra-ministerial and inter-ministerial cooperation in the field of drone operations. The joint exchange of experiences and requirements is intended to help promote coordinated and efficient operational structures and to further develop the use of modern drone technologies in the security and operational sectors.
